In early November, I was one of 16 Young Officers and Officer Cadets from Wales UOTC who took on a challenge regarded internationally as “one of the toughest patrolling tests facing the modern soldier” – Exercise Cambrian Patrol.
Wales UOTC was the only unit to enter the exercise and gain 2 medals – a Silver and Bronze. |

For our first weekend the MTQ 3’s did not freeze whilst bashering up in Sennybridge. Instead we went to the other end of Wales to Snowdonia to enjoy the pleasures of the mountains there. We stayed in Indefatigable in Anglesey. The aim of our EX was to train and assess all expedition members in micro navigation to prepare them for MLP, ML(T) and ML(S) and for every member of the EX to climb Mt Snowdon via a “non tourist route” in preparation for further climbing in the years training.

A select group from all 4 companies journey down to the south of France for adventurous training in the Pyrennes. With high morale and copious amounts of 84 cents champagne from Calais the two day trip to get down there flew by. |

Over 30 members of WUOTC attended Exercise Bavaria Dragon. They undertook numerous activities from mountaineering to mountain biking and much more. They developed new leadership skills and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. |
